Apart from being able to walk out directly from Cortijo las Rosas on any number of lovely walks (we walk our dogs daily up through the olive groves and through wilder countryside overlooking the embalse of Iznajar), there are many other walking opportunities in the area for all levels of walkers.  Our local information magazine, the Subbetica News is currently featuring 15 different walks in the area. Apart from that there are other walks featured in Spanish information leaflets all over the Subbetica National Park.

For example, in Rute (some 25 minutes away from Cortijo las Rosas by car) there are some great local walks, several of which are well signposted.  There is the footpath through the pine forest of Pinar de la Sierra and a section of the long-distance footpath that crosses Spain, the GR7.

The tourist office in Rute situated in the Parque Nuestra Senora del Carmen will have details of walks and maps (tel 95 753 2929).

Also there is the Via Verde, a converted train line which used to carry the olive crop round and which is now a walking and cycle track.
