Seville is some two and a half hours by car from Cortijo las Rosas and lies on the banks of the Guadalquivir River. It is one of the largest historical centres in Europe. It has the minaret of La Giralda, the cathedral (one of the largest in Europe) and the Alcázar Palace. Part of its treasure include Casa de Pilatos, Torre del Oro, the Town Hall, Archive of the Indies (where the historical records of the American continent are kept), the Fine Arts Museum (the second largest picture gallery in Spain) , plus convents, parish churches and palaces. |

Some two hours by car from Cortijo las Rosas, Ronda retains much of its historic charm, particularly its old town. It is famous worldwide for its dramatic escarpments and views, and for the deep El Tajo gorge that carries the rio Guadalevín through its centre. Visitors make a beeline for the 18th century Puente Nuevo ‘new’ bridge, which straddles the 100m chasm below, for its unparalleled views out over the Serranía de Ronda mountains. |

Iznajar appears like an island that rises out of the surrounding water and is perched on a hilltop. It is some 10 minutes by car from Cortijo las Rosas. Its transformation occurred some years ago with the creation of the water reservoir. Iznajar now has a waterfront overlooking an inland sea some thirty kilometres long, and containing an estimated 900 million cubic metres of water. |

This is the closest village to Cortijo Las Rosas, being a five minute drive or a 10 minute walk through the olive groves. The village is perched on a hill with spectacular views over the water reservoir of Iznajar. In 1942 the village suffered an earthquake which destroyed much of the old village. The old village can be visited. |

Cordoba is about two hours by car from Cortijo las Rosas and was founded by the Romans and due to its strategic importance as the highest navigable point of the Guadalquivir River, it became a port city of great importance, used for shipping Spanish olive oil, wine and wheat back to Ancient Rome. |
