Recommended as a writer's retreat…
This is a venue to suit all tastes. High in the hills above the Iznajar reservoir, set deep in the olive groves, with a pool, sunshine and soundless tranquility. My own requirement was for a quiet undisturbed spot to get a large chunk of my novel written. I succeeded, mainly due to the conducive setting of my casita, the Casita Galgo, which turned out to be perfect for writing. The modern furnished casita turned out to be dead right to get the creative urges going. I can't recommend it highly enough. I'll be back.

For longer time I had a wish like most people have. Writing a book, so I started about 1,5 year ago. But because I have a business company I couldn't finish in time. So I told mij boyfriend I wanted to stay somewhere to finish the book. And I said I wanted to stay somewhere in the Netherlands. But he said: Why don't you go to France, Portugal or Spain? He had to tell me once. I searched on the internet and I found Cortijo del Rosas after I had seen more than hundred houses everywhere.
I love Andalusié for the people who live there. The hills with hundreds, thousands of olive trees and the nice places. But most of all I loved Iznajar at the lake and the place Gillian & Marylynne have made there up in the mountains. I felt home directly and enjoyed their kindness and hospitality. The house was very nice like the whole place. Quiet, peaceful and inspiring. Thank you again, Gillian, Marylynne and Steve. I felt very happy to be with you, Iris

Dean and I have been to Cortijo Las Rosas before and we really looked forward to going back! We stayed in Casita Perdiz which is a very spacious, clean, well appointed self catering suite of rooms. Everything you need to make it an enjoyable stay is right there! There is lots of information, guides and maps in the casita to help you chose a days outing or you can just sit and chill by the pool with a good book!. It is just a great location to have a wonderful relaxing time.! Gillian and Marylynne are wonderful hosts and are very helpful and knowledgable and are very pleased to help with any queries or questions you may have. There are many lovely local restaurants, and there is a very good supermarket which has everything you may need! Some nice wines in there too! We think there is something for everyone be it wildlife, walking or a visit to some of the many historical sites in some of the towns or cities. Dean and i have had a great time and look forward to future visits! Thanks Gillian and Marylynne for making our visit such a fabulous one!

It was my third visit to Cortijo Las Rosas, and like a good wine, I want more! This holiday we stayed for a month and was so sad to leave. I first stumbled upon this little gem, was a couple of years ago in the winter and we had a superb relaxing time in front of the fire, also visiting Cordoba Granada etc and all the delights that Andalucia has to offer. Iznajar the local town is superb. The people are very kind and friendly, lovely tapas bars and so beautifully perched upon a hill. The owners are so approachable and very helpful . They obviously have done their research on all matters local. Marylynne speaks spanish and french, Gillie speaks great spanish and both of them are a wealth of information on all things to do and see. The casitas are well stocked, especially recommend the welcome pack! Everything is of the highest quality, sheets towels etc and constant hot water! I could ramble on forever, but its just the place to be for tranquility, relaxation and for discovering the true Andalucia!

We stayed in Casita Perdiz for one week and had a fantastic time.
The accommodation is beautifully situated in the middle of olive trees.
Our casita was lovely, spotless and spacious. The kitchen was well stocked and the welcome pack was great.
Gillian and Marylynne are lovely hosts. Their warm welcome (already through email before arriving) is fantastic. They do their upmost to give you an unforgettable holiday. Our children of 13 and 15 years were given lots of games and pool toys to make sure they enjoyed themselves.
The pool was a great delight and we loved our cosy patio where we enjoyed our evening BBQ's.
We highly recommend this to our friends and family!

Our family of 3 stayed in Casa Perdiz for one week and had a lovely time. The accommodation is off the beaten path (be prepared for 9 km of twisty roads) but still centrally located for many great day trips. Our apartment was very well stocked and Gillian and Marylynne are a wealth of information and suggestions. Highly recommend getting the welcome pack. We also appreciated all the pool toys, games, books etc that are available. We've stayed in this type of accommodation many times and this was the most thoughtfully equipped and managed of any we've ever seen. We would definitely recommend it.

We found Cortijo las Rosas on the internet and made a reservation for a week starting May 2, 2012. We were impressed with the promptness of Gillian responses to our inquiries and her detailed driving instructions to the Cortijo along with helpful suggestions for us to provision ourselves on our way there.
We were greeted warmly by Gillian and Marylynne, who assisted us with our baggage and showed us to our Casita Galgo. They took us on a tour of the grounds, pool terrace and laundry and made us feel at home. The heat was turned on in our cozy bedroom and a fire was burning in the fireplace in the kitchen/living space to ward off the chill on the day of our arrival.
We were most appreciative of the immaculate condition of the facilities, the beauty of the landscaping with colorful geraniums offset against white stucco walls. Flower pots in our private courtyard cascaded with bright yellow Scotch Broom and scented jasmines. The kitchen was thoughtfully equipped to accommodate the needs of the most ambitious cook. A welcoming basket contained bottled water and a bottle of wine.
The living area had a basket filled with brochures of points of interest within an easy driving distance. A loose leaf binder provided information regarding neighbouring restaurants and village market days. Detailed driving instruction to many of the close by points of interest was on individual sheets in the binder. We found those particularly helpful, since we could borrow them and use them for our daily adventure excursion.
The setting and the winding country roads leading to the Cortijo las Rosas are picturesque and provide many close up and panoramic subjects for the photographer and artist.
Our hosts were friendly and were available to share information about the area and respond to our every need. They also provided us privacy.
The facilities and location are ideal for a restful vacation or one full of daily adventures of exploration of the hidden treasures of Andalusia. The enjoyment of our fellow guests accompanied by children indicated that the Cortijo las Rosas is also ideal for a family vacation.

Travel promotions, and pictures are often misleading and when one gets there they do not meet with ones expectations. In the case of Cortijo las Rosas their web site information and photos are truly representative and the setting and warm hospitality made for a vacation that exceeded our expectations.

We look forward to returning.

We stayed for one week in Casita Perdiz and we just loved it; actually everything; the house with a great atmosphere, nicely decorated and made with love; the well equipped kitchen; the fantastic 'welcomepack'; good showers, perfect beds; a beautiful patio with nice smelling flowers. The view is wonderful: a valley with olive trees and it was so nicely quiet: we could just hear the sounds of the birds! The pool is nice! And there are plenty of games and for example, a jeux de boules set. Gillian and Marylynne are really nice and helpful! Thank you again for a memorable week! We'd like to come back in the future! We had a wonderful holiday in Cortijo Las Rosas. Gillian and Marylynne gave us a very warm welcome and told us about some great places to eat nearby. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, nicely furnished an well thought out. There were plenty good walks around the cortijo and sitting by the pool was a relaxing alternative. We loved it!
