Up, up  up lots of hairpin bends on the winding road with an stunning view over the lakes , and what do you find: a truly faultless cortijo and a very warm welcome.  There are endless possibilities for walking/rambling and the whole surrounding area is full of charming villages to explore .The welcome pack is a must , exactly the right ingredients to get started in the very well appointed kitchen.  Bed/bathrooms very spacious and comfortable.  What’s not to like?   And we would definitely like to return,

If lavender, flowering geraniums, whitewashed stone walls in a valley of olives are quintessential images of rural Andalusia then the beautifully restored farmhouse of Cortijo Las Rosas will not disappoint. We stayed in the beautiful two bedroom Casa Liebre and, if it not for the desire to see other nearby parts of southern Spain, we may not have ventured too far from the courtyard, pool and petanque court! The plethora of pool related equipment and board games was of additional delight to our two children who felt most at home.

The location of Cortijo Las Rosas provided for an easy 20 minute walk to the nearby village of Fuentes de Cesna or a 10 minute drive to the beautiful village of Iznajar. We were also able to enjoy easy day trips to iconic locations such as Granada, Cordoba and Ronda. The hosts Gillian and Marylynne were fabulous, from initial enquiries through to arrival instructions and a welcome pack to see us through the first couple of days. They were available for advice and directions throughout our stay and made us and our two children feel very welcome.

After 10 fabulous days we left somewhat heavy of heart and perhaps just a little envious of the life they have created in this most fabulous part of the world. We highly recommend Cortijo Las Rosas as a fantastic getaway for singles, couples or families and plan to revisit ourselves. We have already referred this accommodation to friends and our travel broker.

Beautifully peaceful retreat

What a beautiful spot! These three charming casitas really are a find! The location is quite remote but well worth the effort. Our casita was charming and superbly maintained. The welcome pack of food was brilliantly chosen and being able to sit by the pool with a chilled glass of wine plus crisps and snacks just after our arrival was much appreciated! We sadly only had two days here but very much hope to be back for longer one day!

Perfect Homebase for Andalucia

Beautifully kept, and presented Corjito las Rosas is a perfect place to explore the area. Ten days in the Pediz Casita was wonderous. Very well supplied, access to an additional communal fridge and freezer made it easy to plan for meals. I highly recommend the plentiful welcome package.
It was nice to be able to split exporing days with rest days by the pool, enjoying the gardens and the view.
We appreciated the knowledge that both Gillian & Marylynne shared and hints of where to go to explore.
We highly recommend a stay here – thanks for the memories.

We loved our stay at Cortijo las Rosas. The casita was well equipped with really good extra touches, for instance local olives and olive oil, herb and spices. The owners made us feel very welcome and went out of the way to make our stay as special as possible. We were recommended a local restaurant for a gastronomic meal where we had a memorable evening. Marylynne even provided her own personal book for my bird watching husband. If you would like a holiday in a rural location with beautiful views and wonderful hosts, I would recommend you try this fabulous place to stay..

This is a wonderfully restored property, in the rural countryside.  The owners have thought of everything to make your holiday the best. The quality of workmanship and range of equipment in the Casitas are the best we have ever had.  Nothing was too much for them to supply.

A car is a must but driving is not so difficult. I had more problems getting out from East Midlands Airport to the M1 and home than at any time on the holiday. The path around the house is cobbles, looks lovely but if you do have problems it could be difficult. I would certainly recommend staying here for the views, real Spanish villages lots of history and plenty to see, if you can tear yourself away from the pool and quiet!

Idyllic, peaceful, comfortable place in the hills

This was our second visit to Las Rosas, and we hope it will not be our last. The property itself is lovely and the location is wonderful. We stayed in Casita Perdiz – the closest to the pool. It is well appointed, comfortable and stays cool in the heat (in as much as anywhere can in Andalucia). Being on a hilltop Las Rosas is never oppressively hot. The property and the grounds are kept in excellent shape by Gillian and Marylynne, as is the pool. We spent hours watching house martins swoop down to catch insects from the water! The terrace gets the sun all day, but also offers plenty of shade. In the evening and at night it is a delight – no sound but the cicadas, and brilliant stars.

For me an added bonus is that Steve, one of the owners, is a keen cyclist and lent me a bike and led me on a couple of fabulous rides, including one round Lake Iznajar. Its not cycling for the inexperienced, being hilly and hot, but the scenery is beautiful, the roads are empty, the gradients are mostly reasonable (7-10%) and the coffee stops in the nearby villages are a treat. And Steve is excellent company on a ride!

Iznajar, the nearest village, is striking, with its white buildings and obligatory hill-top church. There are some tremendous views from the village over the lake and good places to eat, particularly the tapas bar in the patio at the top of the village. There is a lot of good food to be had in the vicinity. Gillian and Marylynne are reliable sources of recommendations for places to eat, from local cheap and cheerful to Michelin standard cooking. And the house kitchens are well equipped should you, like us, enjoy cooking. The welcome pack is recommended

The Cortijo is well sited for visiting Granada and Cordoba (both must-sees). Antequera is also well worth a visit. Having done that last year we pretty much stayed put (except for my rides and one trip to Cordoba) and chilled out.

All in all Las Rosas has quickly become one of our favourite places. Thanks to Gillian, Marylynne and Steve for being excellent hosts. Hope to see you all again soon!

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Las Rosa units located atop the Iznajar hills. We loved the setting, the view, the central location to Cordoba, Ronda, Grenada and Nerja. All a day trip away. We loved the olive scent in the air, the birds, the night sky, and the quiet mountain setting. Wonderful paved roads, perfect for walking, bicycling or a daily jog. The casita was very clean, well stocked, comfortable and private. The pool and grounds are peaceful and the view is one of the best in Spain. We have thought about how great it would be to rent all three units with friends or family for a personal vacation. It is the perfect place to do a road or mountain bike vacation with bicycling friends. For the non bikers, the pool is a place where family and friends could enjoy each other, and there is a small village within walking distance, not to mention the above day trips for any interest. The hosts were helpful and attentive. They care about their guest property and work very hard to keep the property up to a five star standard. We hope some day to visit with them again. ( The casita Libre has lower ceilings down stairs if you are a tall person. The upstairs is vaulted. My husband is 6 ft. 3 inches and he did all right. If any taller, I recommend one of the other two units. However, it is a very authentic casita experience)

Cortijo Las Rosas provided us with a comfortable, peaceful and very scenic base for us to explore beautiful Andalusia. The traditional Casa Liebre was beautifully furnished and extremely well stocked, set in well cared for geranium and lavender filled gardens. We visited Granada, Cordoba, Priego de Cordoba and Antequera. Every afternoon was spent splashing around in the fabulous pool and we spent the evenings walking around the olive groves, exploring local towns and barbecuing in our courtyard. We had a very happy stay here.
