Cortijo las Rosas surpassed all expectations. If it’s peace and tranquility you require, then look no further. Gillian and Marylynne are absolutely lovely and the love they have for their beautiful Cortijo shows in even the smallest of details. Spotlessly clean, wonderful linen and gardens the create envy! So much thought has been put into making sure we had everything we needed and both ladies were on hand for any advice and information. Would very much like to return.

A Truly Andalusian Experience
If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy a truly Andalusian experience then don’t miss Cortijo las Rosas. The place is just amazing, great “casita”, you can go and explore the surrounding cities of Cordoba and Granada or just stay in your “patio” and enjoy a bottle of wine with birds chirping as the only distraction. Thanks for the warm welcome of the owners and their helpful information provided. We will go back for sure!!!

Tranquility among the olive groves
We thoroughly enjoyed our six night stay at the smallest of the casitas, Casita Galgo. The accommodation itself was clean, comfortable and extremely well-equipped. We especially appreciated the welcome package which was there for us after the long drive from Madrid. We thought that the fact that our living room was above our bedroom and accessible by an outside staircase might be problematic, but in fact we enjoyed having the two quite separate spaces. (Fortunately, the weather was perfect). We found the general location to be excellent for one day excursions to Grenada, Cordoba, Priego, Nerja and other destinations or for simply exploring the magnificent Andalusian countryside. We were also able to enjoy local walks through the tranquil olive groves and to listen to birdsong uninterrupted by the sounds of traffic or aircraft. Such peace! For the longer trips, Gillian and Marylynne were able to give us very useful driving directions and hints on the best places to park in the larger centres. Over the years, we have rented self-catering villas in various parts of the world, and would rate this as one of the best, so good in fact that we hope to return.
Rural Spain Gem
The accommodation and hosts, Gillian and Marylynne, lived up to advanced billing and we had a very enjoyable stay at Cortijo las rosas. A great location, not just for strolls amongst the olive groves but for day visits to Iznajar, Antequerra, Priego de Cordoba and elsewhere. The recommendation to dine at Casa Piolas in Algarinejo was appreciated and one of the best meals we have ever had. Visiting during holy week was a bonus in this area and the Friday procession in nearby Iznajar is worth the visit. We have stayed in similar houses elsewhere and this was one of the nicest – well maintained with friendly and helpful hosts (the welcome pack is a nice idea). I would recommend this property to anyone.

We all had a fantastic time at Cortijo Las Rosas last month, we are a party of cyclists from who knew Steve from when he lived in Kent. We were lucky to have such fine weather early in the season, and the roads were quiet (if a little bit hilly!) for cycling. The Casitas were an excellent base and being early in the season we were thankful for the wood burning stove for the chilly evenings. Thanks very much to Gillian, Mary-Lynne and Steve for a fantastic stay – the swimming pool should be warming up nicely now. Martin — with Peter Rowe and 3 others
Simeone Family “Une location à retenir” May 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cortijo las Rosas. Gillian and Marylynne were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. Our casita was perfect–simple and charming and with all of the amenities we needed. We loved the pool and the beautiful surroundings. All in all–a great visit. We would highly recommend it and hope to return someday!
A late review, but still needed to be written. We stayed 6 days in Casita Liebre, as starting point for day trips. Warm charming place with very characteristic details, clean and well maintained with loving care. – complete kitchen with quality utensils – spacious and wonderful bedrooms and ditto bathrooms (one room was really big with very large bathroom), – nice little living room with TV, and a stack of info on Andalucia and places to go – swimming pool with wonderful view on the valley with olive groves, abundance of pool toys. – quiet (absolute absence of traffic sounds) – privacy – owners are very helpful When you intend to stay at the property, it is just perfect. – wireless connection was very weak All together we really enjoyed the stay at Cortijo las Rosas, a gem in Andalucia By the way:do try a rafting session at the Rio Genil (www.raftingsaltarios.com): beautiful and fun.
We are a young couple who completed a 3 week tour of Andalucia with a week at Cortijo Las Rosas. It is one of the most beautifully restored and maintained guesthouses we visited. We loved the quiet of the pool surrounded by the olive groves and exploring the local area by bikes. It's worth mentioning that although remotely positioned in the hills above Iznajar, the Cortijo is perfectly located between Granada, Cordoba and the coast. The hosts were the most conscientious and helpful of any I have ever stayed with, even helping us roll start our car when we got a flat battery. One more thing- if you're a cyclist make sure to tell Marylynne's husband Steve- he might let you join his local cycling club for the day- well worth it!
